چکیده

Floods have become more severe and frequent as a result of climate change around the world, posing hazard to public safety economic development. This study investigates use distributed hydrological models in flash flood risk management small watershed Hazara, Pakistan, with goal improving Pakistan's early warning lead time. First, HEC-HMS model was built using geographic data river network's structure, then calibrated verified eight high rainfall events from 2013. demonstrating that could simulate floods research area Second, given happened, this paper proposes an analysis approach for forecasting system, well criteria sending urban-stream alerts based on rainfall, order provide sufficient The DEMs (digital elevation models) regions were processed HEC-Geo HMS, ArcView GIS tool catchment delineation, terrain pre-processing, basin processing. previously observed data. proposed prediction reduction methodology is nonstructural. Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS), which provides time forecast computes runoff/stage threshold conditions, at heart application. For assessment, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) entered into hydro-meteorological database HEC-HMS. Runoff characteristics and application of HEC-HMS for modelling stormflow hydrograph in an oil palm catchment.

Rainfall-runoff processes in a small oil palm catchment (8.2 ha) in Johor, Malaysia were examined. Storm hydrographs show rapid responses to rainfall with a short time to peak. The estimated initial hydrologic loss for the oil palm catchment is 5 mm. Despite the low initial loss, the catchment exhibits a high proportion of baseflow, approximately 54% of the total runoff. On an event basis, the ...

Application of the HEC-HMS model for runoff simulation in a tropical catchment

Hydrologic simulation employing computer models has advanced rapidly and computerized models have become essential tools for understanding human influences on river flows and designing ecologically sustainable water management approaches. The HEC-HMS is a reliable model developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers that could be used for many hydrological simulations. This model is not calibrated...

Hydrologic Modeling System (hec-hms):

Many cities have been built along large rivers. The rivers can provide a source of drinking water, act as receiving water for treated effluent, provide navigation for shipping, and other beneficial uses. However, the city must also be protected from flooding due to the close proximity to the river. Hydrologic analysis plays a crucial role in the development of plans for protecting a river city....

Investigating the Effect of Rainfall Spatial Distribution on Flood in Bakhtiari Dam Basin Using HEC-HMS

The disparate spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall in the country and climate variation sometimes leads to rivers flooding and large flood events, which are remarkable for life and financial losses. Flood control design requires accurate knowledge of the flood generator basin, especially smaller ones, in large basins. Determining the potential of flood generation to specify the...

Use of HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS models with ArcView for hydrologic risk management

The paper discusses how the well known USACE HEC models, RAS and HMS, are fully integrated within the decision support system of the Romagna River Basins in order to predict flood effects. The models are fully available from the web and cope with such a variety of problems as rainfall-runoff modeling, river and civil works hydraulics, and the mapping of hydraulic hazard. The paper illustrates t...
